"Alarming: Ongoing Israeli attacks persist, bringing death and despair to Gaza."
After deploying tanks and ground troops into northern Gaza two and a half weeks ago, Israeli forces conducted a raid on al-Shifa Hospital, where numerous patients and displaced Palestinians are taking refuge. According to Mohammed Zaqout, the director of hospitals in Gaza, Israeli tanks entered the medical compound, and soldiers went into various buildings, including the emergency and surgery departments. The Israeli army alleges that Hamas uses hospitals as shields for its fighters and has established a command center within al-Shifa. Both Hamas and hospital staff deny these accusations.
Simultaneously, the Israeli military is directing its focus to southern Gaza, with reports of residential houses in Khan Younis being bombarded. Al Jazeera's Tareq Abu Azzoum mentioned that Israeli soldiers are attempting to move deeper into the southern part of the Strip, intensifying the already alarming situation. Many residents, having fled their homes in the north and central areas of Gaza, are seeking refuge in what Israel claims are safer regions in the south.
Gaza's Ministry of Health is facing challenges in updating casualty figures as Israeli forces increasingly target hospitals and related services in the besieged enclave. On Wednesday, at least 14 people were killed, and dozens were injured in three significant strikes, with two targeting homes in Khan Younis and one in the central Gaza region. Notably, a strike on the Salhi residential towers in the Nuseirat refugee camp resulted in the death of at least three people.
Since the start of Israel's war on Gaza on October 7, over 11,200 Palestinians, predominantly women and minors, have lost their lives, with about 2,700 people reported missing. The ongoing conflict continues to cause immense suffering, evident in the mourning of relatives killed in the Israeli bombardment, as seen in Khan Younis hospital.
